Collab #9 | BBNO | 18:12 | Farmhouse Bretted Pale

Brew By Numbers – 18:12 Farmhouse Series – A Bretted Pale

In mid Dec 2018 a beer named 18:12 will be released by London’s Brew By Numbers in 750ml sharing bottles and on keg. It’s a recipe Bates came up with together with BBNo founder Dave Seymour that was brewed back in February in the breweries Bermondsey Beer Mile brewhouse nestled in a railway arch a few doors down from the ‘coming soon’ Cloudwater arch.

The short animation above shows Duration’s hop character taking a spin on a fruit machine. Like him this beer takes a gamble. Brettanomyces – a wilder yeast strain to the more conforming conventional brewers yeasts is volatile and less predictable, but in the right measure can bring great flavour to a beer.

A beer in their farmhouse series takes inspiration from Belgian’s monastic brewery Orval that makes but one beer (to perfection in our view) a classic and beautiful Bretted Pale Ale.

See what Bates had to say about the beer and our good friends at Brew By Numbers in this short brew day video below and get orders in at Brew By Numbers or come along to the release in mid may at their tap room.
