Bedrock Launch Event

Bedrock Beginnings – Duration’s ‘home’ beers launch

The Bedrock Launch will showcase the first ‘home’ beers direct from Duration’s recently commissioned brewhouse in Norfolk. The launch will take place nationally on Thursday 12th December across brewery taprooms, beer bars and bottle shops. It’s been a remarkable adventure so far. We teaming up with some amazing venues and hope you come raise a glass to the future and share in our opening releases; a Table Pale, an American Pale, and an IPA.

Durations journey began in the summer of 2017 with a string of collaboration brews with the likes of Cloudwater, Verdant, Deya, Gipsy Hill, Burning Sky and North. Our cofounder and brewer Bates was formerly head brewer at London’s Brew By Numbers. The positive encouragement and industry support afforded to us as a new venture meant we could be ‘debuted’ while setting about the lengthy task of building a brewery. Turning our ridiculously remote, derelict and off grid site into a majestic and inspirational farmhouse brewery was a massive undertaking and we could not be happier to be brewing in house!

Between planning meetings and fundraising it was brilliant to be launching beers and meeting all the amazing beer sellers up and down the country. Truly passionate individuals who share the same love for beer we do. Many of whom are kindly pouring our beers as part of our roll-out launch (we’ll release a map the week of the launch).

In 2018 we released our own beers brewed at Amundsen’s in Oslo (they also have a BrauKon brewhouse) and later we moved production to Cloudwater who were helping us get beers ready for their inaugural beer festival Friends & Family & Beer. We were truly overwhelmed to be supported so heavily.

In October 2019 after a year of  planning and collaborative brews and a further year of own beer releases and building work, we are delighted to be a fully fledged brewery. Duration are now brewing in house as intended, in a custom renovated medieval barn at West Acre Priory. Focused on a keen sense of place we have built a high efficiency, sustainable brewery with a water treatment plant at Abbey Farm in rural West Norfolk. Wild ales and fresh beers brewed form nature with purpose to showcase how harmoniously brewing and agriculture can exist in tandem.

The Bedrock Launch will take place on Thursday 12th Dec across some fantastic beer venues.  We have carried recipes with us on our journey as we’ve pulled our brewery into existence from an idea into a living breathing company and we are thrilled to have them pouring at some of the best venues up and down the country. Hope you enjoy our first fresh beers, by the time we launch our wild ales we’ll have our own brewery taproom – swing by for a tour and a tasting with us!

We’ll share a little more about each of the beers in our Bedrock Launch over on our social media channels and if you are interested to learn more about Duration we have a 4 post blog series bedrock upon which Duration is built. Elements of Water, Wood, Metal and Stone reveal the pioneering technology built into our foundations to stay true to our ethos of ‘beers that belong’.
