Cuttin’ Grass Beer Of The Week | Award Winning Beers With Adrian Tierney-Jones
Cuttin’ Grass – Award Winning Beer Of The Week!
Adrian Tierney-Jones, author of ‘1001 Beers To Try Before You Die’ and recently published ‘A Pub For All Seasons’, gave his verdict in the Daily Star column of the best pint he’d had that week….. and the winner was… our very own Seasonal favourite Cuttin Grass!
A zippy Italian Pilsner with bright lemon/tangerine notes on the nose, lead to a crisp and dry lean-bodied Pilsner. Finishing with a delicate but firm hop bitterness on the tongue. At 4.5% its a sessionable, crisp lager to enjoy on a Summer’s day!
Or as Adrian put it…
It’s an Italian pilsner. But not the kind of beer from Italy whose marketing suggests it will transport you to a yacht off the coast of Amalfi. Instead, it comes from the middle of the north Norfolk countryside. And it’s an easy-drinking lager that has had extra hops added to give it zip and zest.
Blessed with a lively stream of bubbles pushing their way up as if trying to escape, there is a summery surge of fragrant lemon and floral notes on the nose, aromatic and appetising. On the palate it is crisp and refreshing, joined by hints of more lemon, plus mandarin alongside a light biscuitiness that stops the beer from being too fruity. The finish is dry and bittersweet, a crooked finger inviting you to take another swig. A triumph!
