Duration Brewing describe themselves as a “modern farmhouse brewery in West Acre, West Norfolk making beers that belong.” Fresh beers and wild ales brewed from nature with purpose, all with a sense of time and place.
Nestled in ancient woodlands midway along the Nar Valley Pilgrim Trail, the brewery sits in the ruins of an old priory by the banks of a chalk river. Working in creative solitude under the stewardship of head brewer Derek Bates, Duration take inspiration from and pay homage to the area’s unique terroir and produce.
A seasonal range of everyday, slow, agricultural and spontaneous beer pour the regions rich bounty into every glass offering the discerning and inquisitive alike the opportunity to come experience life on the farm. A wood-division promises future wild, blended and mixed fermentation ales full of nuance and complexity, while fresh beers like American Pale – Turtles All The Way Down are full of balance and easy drinking refreshment.
Founded in Summer 2017, Duration brewed nomadically and in collaboration with luminaries across the industry. In October 2019 production moved to Norfolk following a complex barn renovation. High-end equipment delivers consistently balanced modern beers that nod to the past and looks to a more sustainable future with improved efficiencies for less waste.
In February 2020, Duration was named in the top ten list of best new breweries in the world according to RateBeer.com including Best Beer for Bet The Farm – a continental pale and Best Brewery for Norfolk.
