A day to brew, connect and belong

International Women’s Collaborative Brew Day
Sat 7 March | Duration Brewing

This March, we’re opening up the brewery for something special. To mark International Women’s Day, Duration is hosting its first-ever International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day — a free, women-led, drop-in day built around connection, curiosity and shared experience.

Part of a worldwide initiative, the day is about coming together. You don’t need brewing knowledge. You don’t need to stay all day. Just bring yourself!

What the day looks like

We’ll begin gently, move at an easy pace, and leave plenty of space for conversation.

The day starts with a gentle yoga session, led by Virginia before brewing begins in the brewhouse. You’re welcome to watch, ask questions, get involved, or simply enjoy the atmosphere. We’ll pause for refreshments, then finish the day together in the taproom with a few well-earned beers.

Alongside the brew, we’ll be launching Maya Shines, our 5.2% Pale Ale created to celebrate International Women’s Day and this year’s theme: Unite – Belonging.

We’ll also begin brewing a second collaborative beer on the day — one that will continue to evolve over the year with a forage outing later in the year, and will finally be released in early 2027.

Hosted by women, for women

The day is hosted by Virginia Casadio brewer, and Miranda Hudson, founder and managing director.

“If you’re curious about brewing, thinking about working in beer, or just want to learn a little more, this day is for you. It will be relaxed, friendly and open — a chance to observe, chat, connect and share a drink.”
Virginia Casadio

“It feels like the right moment for Duration to join this initiative and say clearly: women belong in beer. There’s no experience needed, and support is available to help you come along.”
Miranda Hudson

Everyone’s welcome

This is a free, informal, drop-in event.
Come for an hour, stay for the whole day, arrive solo or with friends.

To help remove barriers, a bursary of up to £100 is available to support travel, childcare or time away from work.
Applications are open via Women on Tap until 11 February 2026. (Link here)

The plan for the day

  • 10:00 Gentle yoga (bring a mat)

  • 11:00 Brewing begins (closed-toe shoes required)

  • 13:00 Light refreshments

  • 14:00-16:00 Brewing continues
  • 16:00–18:00 Drinks together in the taproom

The taproom will be open all day for friends and family, with food available 12–4pm.
Our regular brewery tour will also run 12–1pm, including a rare live look into the brewhouse mid-brew.

Virginia Casadio | Duration Brewing

Virginia Casadio brews at Duration Brewing in Norfolk. Duration is an  modern farmhouse brewery making beautfully balanced ‘beers that belong’, brewed from nature with purpose. Before joining the business in 2024, she was a Lost + Grounded brewer in Bristol and the head brewer at Newtown Park (also Bristol). Virginia says her gateway beer to becoming a beer enthusiast was a pint of Anchor Steam she tried – when studying in the US, and considers herself a complete lifer travelling to breweries around the world to try ‘all the tasty beers’ Photo: Nathan Neeve

Duration is based on a working farm in rural West Norfolk. Virginia deftly operates our semi automated 20hL 3 vessel BrauKon brewkit and Virginia heads up most of our brews with a hands on approach to cellaring and packaging and can often be found in her poly tunnel growing veg and flowers or foraging in the woods. She often hosts our brewery tours and when not in Norfolk she is usually heading out to beers festivals or travelling the world to visit breweries to try ‘all the tasty beers’!

If you tried any of the below these are her recipes…

Sorbetto – Raspberry Gose
Avalanche – West Coast IPA
Tmavé Pivo – Czech Dark Lager – award winner 2024
Nostalgia – Cali Common – award winner 2024

As well as producing all of our core and seasonal beers, Virginia excels at developing her own elegant and balanced recipes spanning both modern and traditional styles. Virginia stepped away from city life at in Bristol at Lost + Grounded Brewers to brew in creative solitude inspired by Norfolk’s rich agricultural landscape and the bounty of the woodlands and farmlands around us. Duration featured in a Brewer’s Journal published article HERE which shares a little about our set up and desire to make beers that belong brewed from nature with purpose.

Miranda our founder and the breweries managing director has long celebrated advancing women in all industries and will be hosting you on the day and there to chat to along with Virginia who will be running the brew. Friendly and inclusive Miranda lives by a ‘be it to see’ motto and is often found pulling pints in the taproom or being a brand ambassador for Duration. Miranda is also on the board of an Indian Charity to end Gender Based Violence against women and children.
